After many months of remaining silent, Nintendo finally announced the release date and price for the Nintendo Wii. At a press conference held on September 14, 2006 Nintendo confirmed that the product was slated for a November 19, 2006 release in the United States at a price of $249.99. |
The console was initially sold with five Wii Sports games on single disk, quite similar to how Nintendo did with the Mario game on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The console also came with one wireless Wii remote controller. In addition, there was a nun chuck controller.
The Wii targets ordinary people who love playing video games, and somehow it has managed to gain appeal among the masses. The games on the system are believed to receive excellent ratings from all who play them. Nintendo also claims that the Wii has managed to create worldwide excitement with its unique control system, which is
inventive and first-of-its-kind controller whose position can detect movements in 3-D space and also be used as a handheld pointing device.
Nintendo had people thinking that the price tag would benefit many, but when the price was revealed, many people were surprised and disappointed. The $249.99 price is much too high for what you are getting. The biggest downside to the Wii console
is the 729 MHz processor speed, especially when compared to the 3.2 GHz processor speeds of the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. This downside will make it much harder for developers to run large programs on the Wii, and it will cause games to be downgraded so that they can run on the console.More Articles :
